APC National Chairman Inaugurates 2026 Convention Committee

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, on Tuesday inaugurated the 2026 APC National Convention Committee, charging members to deliver what he described as the party’s best convention yet.
While inaugurating the 98-member committee, Prof. Yilwatda expressed strong confidence in its leadership under the chairmanship of Kabiru Aminu Masari, with Mai Mala Buni serving as Secretary.

He said the party expects the committee to organise a convention that will be free, fair, transparent and widely accepted by members across the country.

“I am sure this committee will organise a very free, fair, transparent and widely accepted convention,” the APC National Chairman stated, adding that the exercise would further strengthen internal democracy within the party.

In his remarks, Rt. Hon. Masari said the task before the committee had been simplified by the calibre of personalities appointed to serve. He described Governor Buni as a seasoned party administrator with vast experience in political management and conflict resolution.

“I am happy to have His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, as Secretary of the committee. He combines deep knowledge and experience in party administration and conflict resolution,” Masari said.

The committee has been mandated to organise the party’s national convention, which will elect members of the National Working Committee (NWC).

Party leaders expressed optimism that the forthcoming convention would consolidate unity within the APC and reposition the party for future electoral engagements.
