APC Support Groups Council Hails Yari’s Appointment as Tinubu Campaign DG

The South-South Directorate of the APC Support Groups Council has congratulated former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, on his appointment as Director-General of the Tinubu-Shettima 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, describing the development as a recognition of his leadership capacity, political experience and grassroots mobilization prowess.
In a congratulatory message dated August 23, 2026, the Deputy Director-General, South-South of the APC Support Groups Council, Sir Dr. AK Peters, said Yari’s appointment by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reflects confidence in his ability to lead the ruling party’s campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
According to Peters, Yari possesses the political pedigree, strategic insight and bridge-building qualities required to steer the campaign council towards securing victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Your appointment is a fitting recognition of your exceptional political pedigree, leadership capacity, strategic insight, bridge-building disposition and proven ability to mobilise people and deliver results,” he stated.
He expressed confidence that the former governor’s wealth of experience and political dexterity would provide the campaign council with the purposeful leadership needed to deliver electoral success for President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
The APC Support Groups Council also welcomed the inclusion of prominent support group leaders in the campaign structure, describing it as a demonstration of the President’s appreciation of the role played by support groups in the party’s political successes.
Peters specifically cited the appointments of former Nasarawa State Deputy Governor, Silas Agara; former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani; Comrade Ogenyi Okpoku; and Hon. Legor Idagbor into the Support Directorate of the campaign council.
He said the appointments underscore the President’s confidence in the loyalty, grassroots strength and mobilisation capacity of the APC Support Groups family.
“These appointments are not only well deserved; they are also a clear recognition that the Support Groups constitute a critical pillar of the APC’s grassroots mobilisation architecture and an indispensable force in the task of securing victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 Presidential Election,” he said.
Peters pledged the unwavering support of the APC Support Groups Council to the campaign council, assuring Yari that its structures and networks across the country were prepared to work towards translating the administration’s Renewed Hope agenda into grassroots support and electoral victory.
He added that support groups across the South-South region and other parts of the country remained committed to collaborating with the campaign leadership in mobilising voters ahead of the 2027 polls.
The APC chieftain further assured Yari of the council’s loyalty and cooperation as he assumes what he described as a historic responsibility in the party’s quest to retain power at the federal level.
“Once again, please accept my warmest congratulations and the assurances of our loyalty, support, collaboration and highest esteem as you assume this historic responsibility,” Peters stated.
The message comes amid growing political activities and alignments within the APC as preparations gradually gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections.
