Army Reshuffle: Maj Gen Kangye Now Director of Media Operations

In a strategic effort to bolster operational effectiveness and administrative efficiency, the Nigerian Army has announced the redeployment and appointment of senior officers to key positions. Among the notable changes, Major General MC Kangye has been appointed Director of Media Operations at the Defence Headquarters, a move signaling the Army’s commitment to enhancing communication and public engagement.
The redeployment, approved by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, affects several high-ranking officers, including Principal Staff Officers (PSOs), General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, and Commandants of training institutions. This realignment aims to create a dynamic leadership structure to address emerging security challenges effectively.
Major General Kangye, who previously served at the Headquarters of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, brings a wealth of experience to his new role. His expertise in operational strategy and media relations is expected to strengthen the Defence Headquarters’ efforts in managing public perception and countering misinformation.
Other significant appointments include:
– Major General OT Olatoye, now General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division and Commander of Joint Task Force South East Operation UDO KA.
– Major General EF Oyinlola, appointed GOC 3 Division and Commander Operation SAFE HAVEN.
– Major General GM Mutkut, now Force Commander of the Multi-National Joint Task Force in N’Djamena, Chad.
Additionally, Major General ZL Abubakar has been named Commander of the Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, succeeding Major General Kangye.
Lieutenant General Oluyede has tasked the newly appointed officers with ensuring sustained momentum in ongoing operations against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats. He also emphasized prioritizing the welfare of troops under their command.
The reshuffle underscores the Nigerian Army’s resolve to adapt to evolving security dynamics while fostering robust leadership across its ranks.
The new appointments take immediate effect, with all officers directed to assume their roles with dedication and a renewed sense of purpose.
