Awujale Installs Sonny Kuku as 4th Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland Amidst Glitz and Celebration

Amidst pomp and celebration, the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, on Saturday, bestowed upon Sonny Kuku, Co-founder of EKO Hospital, the esteemed title of the 4th Ogbeni Oja of Ijebuland.
The ceremonial occasion, coinciding with Kuku’s 80th birthday, drew a throng of well-wishers and dignitaries from across the country.
The Ojude Pavilion, serving as the venue for the installation, brimmed with attendees comprising relatives, friends, and associates of the newly installed Ogbeni Oja, eager to witness the historic event.
Dignitaries gracing the occasion included Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, represented by his Deputy, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, and Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat. Also in attendance were former governors of Ogun State, Olusegun Osoba, Ibikunle Amosun, and Gbenga Daniel, who currently represents Ogun East in the Senate, among others.
Royal fathers, including the Akarigbo and Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Traditional Rulers, Adewale Ajayi, the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewaland, Kehinde Olugbenle, and the Osile of Oke Ona Egba, Adedapo Tejuoso, graced the event with their presence.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun, represented by his deputy, commended Kuku’s notable achievements in medicine and business, emphasizing his commitment to the development of Ijebuland. Abiodun urged the new Ogbeni Oja to utilize his position to foster unity, economic development, and educational advancement in the region.
