Balarabe Abbas explains why he collapsed during ministerial screening

Balarabe Abbas, a Kaduna State minister who collapsed at the ministerial screening on Wednesday, has said that weariness was the cause of his breakdown.

President Bola Tinubu had written to the Senate on Tuesday, requesting approval of Balarabe and two other ministerial nominations, Jamila Ibrahim (Kwara) and Ayodele Olawande (Ondo).

Speaking with journalists after the incident, Balarabe stated that he was exhausted.

“I’m alright now. I’ve been treated, and I’m alright now. It was basically exhaustion.”

Balarabe fainted immediately after completing his presentation, prompting Senate President Godswill Akpabio to call for a closed-door session.

The Senate later ratified Balarabe Abbas, along with Dr. Jamila Ibrahaim and Ayodele Olawande.
