The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram terrorists have clashed again over territories, claiming their lives in the Lake Chad region.

The terrorists were killed on the islands of Kandahar and Kaduna Ruwa on the shores of the lake, near Kukawa community in Borno State.

It was gathered that the clashes began late afternoon on Monday, when the ISWAP faction launched a fresh assault in the camp of Abou Hurayra, a leader of the Boko Haram Buduma Faction.

A counter-insurgency expert in the region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed yesterday (Wednesday) in Maiduguri that the ISWAP, led by Ali Kwaya and Abou Hassaini from Kirta in Ngala LGA, arrived in seven canoes with fighters on board to engage the Boko Haram terrorists.

According to him, this led to a clash for about an hour, claiming the lives of many terrorists on the two islands.

The Guardian also gathered that ISWAP recorded higher casualties as military sources in Maiduguri confirmed that out of the canoes conveying the ISWAP terrorists, only two returned to Kirt hideout camp.

“The continuous deadly clashes between the terrorist groups have resulted in the deaths of many fighters from both sides,” said Makama.
