Buratai Commends Nigerians’ Resilience, Calls for Unity in 2024

In a reflective message on the eve of the new year, former Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd), commended Nigerians for their patience, resilience, and unwavering belief in the democratic process.
Acknowledging the challenges faced throughout the year 2023, he urged citizens to continue supporting the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and remain hopeful for a brighter future.
Lt Gen Buratai recognized the economic hardships that have left many feeling the pinch, describing the past year as rough and bumpy. Despite the challenges, he assured Nigerians that relief and stability were on the horizon, calling for continued resilience in the face of adversity.
“I implore all Nigerians to continue to be resilient and never give up on their country,” Buratai said in his statement. He emphasized the importance of avoiding acts of violence and encouraged citizens to express their grievances through legitimate means.
Expressing concern over recent criminal acts, particularly the vandalism of electrical installations along the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road, Lt Gen Buratai condemned such actions. He called on Nigerians to support the military and other security agencies in bringing the perpetrators to justice. The destruction of public infrastructure, he emphasized, should not be tolerated or supported under any guise.
“Nigerians must give maximum support to the military and other security agencies to fish out the perpetrators and bring them to justice. We must not allow or support any individual or group of persons in the name of whatever ideology to destroy public and social amenities that are very essential to our survival,” he declared.
In conclusion, Lt Gen Buratai extended his best wishes to all Nigerians for a peaceful and prosperous 2024.
