CAS Charges Air Commanders to Intensify Offensive Against Insurgents

The Chief of the Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, has directed commanders of the Nigerian Air Force to intensify operational pressure against insurgents and other criminal elements across the country.

Air Marshal Aneke gave the directive on May 18, 2026, during an operational briefing with Branch Chiefs, Air Officers Commanding, Directors, and Air Component Commanders from various operational theatres nationwide.

According to the Air Chief, the Nigerian Air Force must sustain continuous evaluation and reassessment of its operational strategies and procedures to effectively tackle emerging security threats.

He stressed the importance of ensuring that every mission delivers decisive results against hostile elements while maintaining professionalism and safeguarding civilian lives during operations.

The CAS further emphasised the need for precision in air operations, noting that protecting innocent civilians remains a critical component of ongoing counter-insurgency and internal security efforts.

The meeting also provided an opportunity for commanders to review ongoing operations, assess operational challenges, and strengthen coordination in the fight against terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other security threats across the country.
