CDS Gen. Musa Mourns Veteran Journalist Lawrence Bilal Audu

The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has joined numerous Nigerians in mourning the passing of veteran journalist and editor of Northeast Star Magazine, Mr. Lawrence Bilal Audu, who died in his sleep on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

In a press statement signed by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, and made available to newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.

General Musa described the late editor as a hardworking professional dedicated to upholding the principles of journalism in Nigeria.

He praised Audu’s unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and accuracy in reporting, particularly in covering defence and security matters.

As a former Defence Correspondent and Editor-in-Chief of the North East Star Magazine, Audu was widely respected for his insightful coverage of the security crisis in the North East.

Reflecting on their professional encounters, General Musa recalled crossing paths with Audu during his tenure as the Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, where he witnessed firsthand the journalist’s dedication, patriotism, and commitment to fair reporting.

The CDS offered prayers for divine protection and blessings upon the family Audu left behind.

He also urged members of Northeast Star Magazine to uphold the late editor’s legacy by maintaining high journalistic standards and professionalism in their work.
