COAS Extends Heartfelt Christmas 2025, New Year 2026 Greetings to Nigerian Army Personnel, Families

As Nigeria celebrates Christmas 2025 and prepares to welcome 2026, the Chief of Army Staff has extended a goodwill message to all officers, soldiers, civilian staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has extended a goodwill message to all officers, soldiers, civilian staff, and families of the Nigerian Army, reflecting on the season’s themes of love, sacrifice, compassion, and unity.

In his message, the Army Chief highlighted the importance of reflection and thanksgiving, urging personnel to embrace the virtues of peace and solidarity as exemplified by the birth of Jesus Christ. He acknowledged the challenges and achievements of the past year, praising the professionalism, courage, and dedication of troops deployed across various operational theatres, many of whom will be away from their families during the festive season.

Recognising the sacrifices of frontline personnel, the Chief of Army Staff commended their unwavering commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s territorial integrity and ensuring the safety of its citizens. He assured that efforts to strengthen the Army’s professionalism, combat readiness, personnel welfare, and operational effectiveness would continue, guided by his command philosophy of transforming the Nigerian Army into a more adaptable, resilient, and joint-capable force.

The Army Chief also paid tribute to the families of personnel, acknowledging their support, patience, and understanding as a critical source of strength for soldiers. Additionally, he expressed gratitude to sister services, security and intelligence agencies, ministries, state governments, traditional leaders, host communities, and patriotic Nigerians for their cooperation and trust in the Nigerian Army’s mission.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Chief urged all personnel to embrace the New Year with renewed optimism, focus, and determination, emphasizing the continued importance of counterinsurgency efforts, intelligence improvements, and the welfare and morale of soldiers. He also remembered fallen heroes, pledging that their sacrifices would continue to be honoured through care for their families and sustained operational excellence.

Concluding his message, the Chief of Army Staff extended warm wishes for a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all Nigerian Army personnel, civilian staff, and their families, calling for peace, joy, and renewed blessings in 2026.
