COAS Initiates CIMIC Projects and Lauds Service to Nigerian Army

In a bid to bolster community relations and provide essential infrastructure, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, commissioned COAS Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Projects in Taraba State.

The projects, located in Jen community, Karim Lamido Local Government Area, were executed by Major Generals Boniface Sinjen and Henry Wesley, both distinguished sons of the community.

Named after the two senior officers, the projects include a sports and cultural centre equipped with standard basketball and volleyball courts, a football pitch, pavilions, a museum, and a conference hall, as well as a multi-purpose centre.

During the commissioning ceremony, Gen. Lagbaja commended the exemplary service of Major Generals Sinjen and Wesley, highlighting their unblemished dedication to the Nigerian Army and the nation.

He emphasised the importance of supporting communities of senior officers and fostering partnerships with civilians to address security challenges.

Gen. Lagbaja emphasised the role of citizens in providing timely information to security agencies.

Major General Sinjen, speaking at the event, underscored the significance of the projects in fostering community empowerment and nurturing athletic talent.

The commissioning ceremony was attended by government officials, traditional leaders, military personnel, and members of the community, reflecting a collaborative effort towards enhancing security and community development.
