Justice M.S. Abubakar of the Federal High Court sitting in Makurdi has sentenced Agene Johnson Godwin, Managing Director of Builderstech Solution Ltd, to 48 years imprisonment without an option of fine for defrauding over 5,000 unsuspecting victims of more than N500 million.

Godwin was convicted on an amended eight-count charge filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
According to court records, the defendant orchestrated a large-scale fraud scheme that lured thousands of victims into investing in fraudulent ventures operated through his company. The EFCC successfully proved the charges beyond reasonable doubt, leading to his conviction and sentencing.
Justice Abubakar described the offence as grave, noting the devastating impact on victims who lost their savings to the scheme. The court emphasized the need for stiff punishment to deter similar financial crimes.
The EFCC welcomed the judgment, reaffirming its commitment to combating economic and financial crimes and protecting Nigerians from fraudulent schemes.
