Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido has been confirmed as one of the headline performers for FIFA’s World Cup 2026 Countdown Concert scheduled to take place in Los Angeles, United States, on June 10.
FIFA announced the development as part of activities leading up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada and Mexico.
According to FIFA, Davido will share the stage with Major Lazer, the globally acclaimed music project led by American DJ and producer Diplo.
The concert, which will be held at the Crypto.com Arena, forms part of a synchronized entertainment programme designed to connect audiences across the three host nations through music, football and cultural performances ahead of the tournament.
In a statement, FIFA described the Los Angeles event as a high-energy celebration that will bring together football fans, music lovers and cultural enthusiasts from around the world.
“Los Angeles will play host to a high-energy celebration featuring Major Lazer and Davido, the first artists announced for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football and culture,” FIFA stated.
The event is scheduled to begin with doors opening at 5 p.m. local time, while live performances are expected to commence an hour later.
FIFA noted that the Los Angeles concert will be linked with simultaneous events in Toronto and Mexico City, creating a unique cross-border celebration ahead of the expanded 2026 World Cup.
The Chief Tournament Officer for the FIFA World Cup 2026 in the United States, Manolo Zubiria, said the Countdown Concert series reflects the unity, diversity and cultural connections that define the global football showpiece.
“The Countdown Concert series celebrates the passion, unity and cultural connections across three countries and around the world that define the FIFA World Cup 2026,” he said.
Zubiria added that Los Angeles is expected to deliver a memorable experience for both football and music fans as excitement continues to build toward the tournament.
FIFA also disclosed that tickets for the concert went on sale on June 3 and that the event will be streamed globally through its digital platforms, including the official FIFA World Cup TikTok account.
The announcement further highlights Davido’s growing international profile, with the award-winning Nigerian artist set to represent Africa on one of the biggest global entertainment stages ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
