Defence Minister backs Arewa traders, promises to relay their demands to Tinubu

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has expressed his support for the Arewa Traders Association, a group of traders from the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Abubakar received the delegation of the Association, led by its Acting National President, Adam Hassan Ibrahim, at his office in Ship House, Abuja, on Monday.

He commended the Association for its role in the 2023 general elections, where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) won most of the seats at the local, state and national levels.

“I am one of you, and so will like to assure you that all your challenges will be addressed, in order ensure that your business is boosted appropriately, ” he said, promising to convey their good will message and their demands to the President, Bala Ahmed Tinubu, who was elected in 2023.

The leader of the Association, Ibrahim, congratulated Abubakar on his appointment as the Defence Minister, saying it was a well-deserved honour.

He said the purpose of their visit was to celebrate with him and to seek his intervention in the welfare of their members.

He appealed to the Minister to include the Association in the Federal Government’s Social Welfare schemes, which are aimed at alleviating poverty and empowering the masses.
