Defence Minister Inaugurates Historic Advisory Council at NDC, Paving the Way for Unprecedented Growth
In a landmark move, the Defence Minister, Muhammad Badaru, inaugurated the National Defence College Advisory Council, signaling a new era in the institution’s history.
The Personal Assistant Media to the Minister of Defence, Saf’one Sani Imam, disclosed this in a press statement signed and made available to newsmen in Abuja.

The Minister emphasised the vital role the council would play in the college’s growth and development.
Highlighting the significance of this milestone, Badaru stated, “This Advisory Council is a first in the three-decade history of the College. Advisory Councils play crucial roles in the growth and de velopment of institutions , and your wealth of knowledge and experience is invaluable at this critical time.”
Acknowledging the vision and foresight of the College Commandant, Rear Admiral ON Olotu, in establishing the Advisory Council, the Minister commended the Chairman, Rear Admiral AG Adedeji (Rtd), and other members for accepting the responsibility to serve an institution they once led.
Badaru also expressed gratitude to the members, saying, “Your acceptance to serve this great institution once again is highly appreciated and commendable.”
He reassured the College Commandant of the Ministry of Defence’s ongoing support, emphasizing the commitment to fulfilling the College’s mandates.
During the inauguration, Rear Admiral Olotu, the College Commandant, explained that the Advisory Council’s establishment aimed to sustain institutional memory and tap into the experiences of past leadership continually.
The Chairman, Rear Admiral Adedeji (Rtd), expressed gratitude to the Minister for entrusting them with this responsibility and pledged to bring their collective experiences to meet global best practices.
As the National Defence College embarks on this new chapter with the Advisory Council, expectations are high for a period of unprecedented growth, development, and global best practices in the service of national defense education.
