In a symbolic transition of leadership, General Chibuisi, the outgoing Theatre Commander of Operation HADIN KAI, urged troops to sustain their unwavering commitment in the fight against terrorists.
He stated this during his handover to the new Theatre Commander Maj Gen W Shaibu, at the Headquarters Theatre Maiduguri on Monday.
He emphasised the importance of continuing the momentum and extending full support to the new Theatre Commander, aiming to achieve more successes by eradicating remnants of terrorists for lasting peace in the Northeast region.
Expressing gratitude, Gen Gold thanked Chief of Defence Staff Gen CG Musa and Service Chiefs for entrusting him with the responsibility.
He acknowledged the support from the Executive Governors of Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, as well as the collaboration of the residents in these areas, recognising their vital role in the success of both kinetic and non-kinetic operations, including the surrender of repentant terrorists.
Gen Gold commended the troops for their resilience, humanitarian organizations for their contributions, and the media for their reportage, which effectively highlighted the accomplishments of Operation HADIN KAI to the Nigerian public.
The ceremony included briefings for the incoming Theatre Commander, the exchange of souvenirs, a farewell address to troops, the signing of handing and taking over notes, group photographs, and a farewell handshake by the outgoing Theatre Commander.
Distinguished military figures, including Maj Gen PP Malla and Maj Gen MLD Saraso, were present, along with foreign liaison officers, underscoring the significance of this crucial handover in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
