In a major offensive against terrorism, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) conducted precision airstrikes on the hideouts of ISWAP terrorists in Kolleram village, Borno State. The operation, part of Operation Hadarin Kai (OPHK), took place on 13 April 2024 and resulted in the neutralization of several high-ranking terrorists, including Ali Dawud, Bakura Fallujah, and Mallam Ari.

Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet who announced the success of the operation on 16 April 2024 said, the Battle Damage Assessment after the strike confirmed the elimination of over 30 terrorists, along with the destruction of vehicles, motorcycles, and logistical assets crucial to the terrorists’ operations.

Intelligence reports following the airstrike revealed that a key facility supporting the terrorists’ food processing activities, including grinding machines, was effectively obliterated in the Kolleram enclave. This successful operation dealt a severe blow to the ISWAP group, significantly degrading their capabilities in the region.

Gabkwet further emphasized the NAF’s dedication to eradicating terrorism and ensuring the safety and security of the country’s populace.

The NAF’s swift and precise action has demonstrated its commitment to combating terrorism and safeguarding Nigerian citizens. By targeting key terrorist figures and disrupting their logistical networks, the airstrikes have bolstered the ongoing efforts of ground forces in the Lake Chad region, marking a significant advancement in the fight against terrorism in Nigeria.
