FRSC decorates 38 newly promoted officers in Rivers

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has on Friday, decorated 38newly promoted officers in Rivers.

The officers were promoted from the rank of Deputy Chief Inspector (DCI) to Road Marshall Assistant (RMA II).

The Sector Commander of RS6.1, Rivers, Salisu Galadunci, while decorating the officers, described them as the “engine room of the Corps’’.

“This particular ceremony is dear to me because the officers in this category of rank are in the engine room of FRSC.

“We are just drivers and directors, but they are the ones that are always in the field, come rain and sun.

“They perform the task of ensuring that the roads are safe and where there are complaints, they clear it, and this is why they are special to me,’’ he said.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Rivers Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Osima Ginah urged the newly promoted marshals to be principled in their duties.

“You are in charge of activities on the federal roads, we are in charge of regulating activities on the roads within the state.

“So, we are partners supporting each other to achieve our aim because, without support for each other, we can’t make progress,’’ he said.

The commissioner also said the officers were not promoted because “they were working with FRSC, but it was their diligence and hard work that earned them the promotion’’.

“The FRSC has by the promotion put more responsibility on you, and do not forget that people are watching you on the road.

“When a man is principled, diligent, and hardworking, it will be easily noticed by the public that is your watchdog,’’ he said.

Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Road Marshal Assistant, Rita Ogbonna thanked the FRSC management for finding them worthy.

Ogbonna said that they would put in more effort, saying “to whom much is given, much is expected’’.
