Gbajabiamila Gives Alleged PFIPC DG 72 Hours to Retract Claims or Face Legal Action

The Chief of Staff to the President, Mr. Olufemi Gbajabiamila, has issued a 72-hour ultimatum to the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeyemi Adeniyi, demanding the retraction of statements linking him to the controversial body or face civil and criminal legal proceedings.

The demand was conveyed in a letter dated July 6, 2026, signed by Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Kemi Pinheiro, on behalf of Pinheiro LP, legal counsel to the Chief of Staff.

According to the letter, Gbajabiamila categorically denied ever meeting, communicating, or having any official or personal relationship with Adeniyi.

The legal team described allegations connecting the Chief of Staff to the alleged PFIPC as false, malicious, and defamatory, insisting that Adeniyi had no basis for making such claims.

The letter also referenced an ongoing criminal case before the Federal High Court in Abuja, identified as Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/652/2026, Federal Republic of Nigeria v. Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew & Others, in which Adeniyi is facing allegations of forgery. The charges reportedly include the alleged forgery of an appointment letter bearing Gbajabiamila’s signature and the counterfeiting of presidential letterheaded documents to present himself as a government official.

Gbajabiamila’s lawyers argued that making public allegations through a press conference while the matter is already before the court amounts to an attempt at “trial by media,” which they said has no place under Nigerian law.

The legal team demanded that Adeniyi, within 72 hours, cease making further defamatory statements, remove all related publications, videos, recordings, and transcripts from every platform where they were shared, publish a full retraction and apology in at least five national newspapers and across all relevant social media platforms, and provide a written undertaking not to make further statements concerning the Chief of Staff.

Failure to comply, the letter warned, would result in the commencement of both civil and criminal legal proceedings.

The development comes amid growing scrutiny surrounding the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), a body whose official recognition by the Federal Government has not been established. Authorities are currently investigating allegations surrounding its operations and claims of official status.
