Gov. Yusuf Names Deputy Murtala Garo as Running Mate for 2027 Governorship Election

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially announced the nomination of his deputy, Murtala Sule Galadima Garo, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.

The announcement was made during a strategic meeting with Federal Political Appointees of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu held at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.

According to a statement issued on Monday by the Director-General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Governor Yusuf said the decision was based on the deputy governor’s loyalty, commitment and dedication to the development of Kano State.

The governor praised Garo for his performance since assuming office, describing him as a dependable partner who has consistently demonstrated competence, responsibility and a strong commitment to the administration’s objectives.

“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my Deputy, and he has proven to be the right choice. I want to confirm to you that I have every confidence in him,” Governor Yusuf said.

He also passed a vote of confidence on the deputy governor, stating that his contributions have strengthened the administration’s efforts to deliver meaningful development and improve the welfare of the people of Kano State.

Governor Yusuf urged party leaders, political appointees and supporters to remain united and focused as the administration consolidates on its achievements and prepares for the 2027 general elections.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with his deputy in advancing the administration’s development agenda for Kano State.
