Announcing the decision, Governor Fintiri said the defection was driven by the need for unity, stability, and strategic alignment, stressing that the move was not intended to sideline existing APC members but to strengthen the party ahead of future electoral contests.

He declared his commitment to working for the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections, describing the move as part of a broader vision to consolidate governance and development in Adamawa State.
Confirming the scale of the defection, former Adamawa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hamza Bello Madagali, announced the full integration of the PDP structure into the APC, from the state level down to wards and polling units.

Governor Fintiri credited President Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, for their roles in facilitating a smooth transition.

APC leaders in the state and at the national level, including Mustapha Salihu and Awwal Tukur, welcomed the defection, describing it as a turning point that positions the APC as the dominant political force in Adamawa State.

The mass defection is expected to have far-reaching implications for party politics in the North-East ahead of the 2027 elections.
