Governor Inuwa Yahaya Unveils Plans for Gombe State in New Year Address

Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, addressed the people of the state in a state-wide broadcast on Monday, January 1, 2024, outlining his plans for the new year and reflecting on the challenges faced in 2023.

Beginning with heartfelt congratulations to the Christian community on the successful celebration of Christmas, Governor Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the cultural diversity of Gombe State as a strength that unites its people. He urged citizens to embrace unity, love, and harmony, regardless of their differences.

The Governor took stock of the significant events in 2023, highlighting his re-election for another term and the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He emphasized that these events signify the collective will of the people to move towards progress in the spirit of renewed hope championed by the APC.

Expressing deep appreciation for the opportunity to serve another term as Governor, Inuwa Yahaya committed to fulfilling the mandate with utmost dedication. He acknowledged the challenges brought about by the removal of fuel subsidy, emphasizing the rising cost of living and economic hardships. The Governor detailed policies and palliative measures introduced to cushion the side effects, including wage grants, food, and agricultural support.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya praised the resilience and understanding of the people during tough times, assuring them that as they invest the gains of fuel subsidy removal in long-term growth and inclusive development, they will emerge stronger.

As the state braces for tougher challenges in 2024, the Governor announced the second phase of a palliative food distribution program, targeting 90,000 beneficiaries. He commended the efforts of the people and encouraged them to weather the storms together.

Looking ahead to 2024, Governor Inuwa Yahaya outlined the state’s focus on building a Gombe that leaves no one behind, as articulated in the recently passed 2024 budget titled the “budget of continuity and consolidation.” The Governor pledged continued investment in education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, job creation, peace, and security.

He called for a united front in the pursuit of lasting peace and security, urging traditional rulers, religious leaders, and the general public to contribute to the prosperity and security of Gombe State. The Governor granted clemency to 39 convicted inmates as a gesture of hope for a fresh start.

Governor Inuwa Yahaya concluded his address with optimism, expressing confidence that together, the people of Gombe State can make 2024 a year of progress, resilience, and growth. He emphasized the importance of collective effort, advice, prayers, and support in shaping the destiny of Gombe State.
