Guards Brigade Commander Restates Commitment to Securing the FCT

...Leads Ascension of Aso Rock Mountain as Culmination of 2023 Training Program

In the culmination of the Guards Brigade Training program for 2023, the indefatigable Commander of the Guards Brigade Nigerian Army, Colonel Adebisi Olusegun Onasanya, took charge today, on December 21, 2023, to lead officers and personnel under his command on an ascent of the renowned Aso Rock Mountain, situated at the core of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The ascent commenced at approximately 0600hrs at the Mambila Barracks Asokoro, signifying the Brigade’s commitment to concluding the year with a profound sense of accomplishment, demonstrating its diligent execution of the assigned task to safeguard the security of the Federal Capital Territory and its surroundings.

Addressing all participants, the Commander emphasized that the exercise is an annual military tradition upheld over the years. He underscored the Brigade’s determination to continue fulfilling its designated responsibilities in alignment with the Chief of Army Staff’s command philosophy, aimed at transforming the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force, dedicated to fulfilling its constitutional obligations within a joint environment.

Colonel Onasanya reiterated the Brigade’s loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and emphasized its commitment to ensuring the security of the Federal Capital Territory and its environs.

The Chief scorpion as he is popularly called used the medium to also warn the bad eggs in the society to stay clear from the Federal Capital Territory and it’s environs while assuring them of the readiness of Guards Brigade and units under command to deal decisively with those ready to foment trouble.

He also called on law abiding citizen to celebrate with love as the season is about peaceful, love and care.

Colonel Onasanya further appreciated all the participants present particularly members of the sister security Agencies who turned in solidarity for participating in the very challenging but interesting adventure.

High point of the exercise was the presentation of souvenir to outstanding individuals who despite the difficulty, ascended with high morale exhibiting high quality leadership ability, strength and agility which is required for uptimum performance.

Members of various security agencies from the Nigerian Air Force, Department of States Service, Fire Service and paramilitary as well as Media organisations within the Federal Capital Territory were present .

The Exercise was well attended by Commanding Officers of various Units under command who led their men in high moral to conquer the Rock as well as members of the National Youth Service Corps, Barracks children including NMS Boys on festive break and lovers of adventures.
