Historic Feat: NAF Engineers Successfully Complete 4800-Hour Maintenance on Dornier 228 Aircraft

In a landmark achievement, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has successfully completed a 4800-hour Periodic Depot Maintenance (PDM) on a Dornier 228 (DO-228) aircraft, a task previously outsourced to foreign Maintenance Repair Organizations (MROs). This milestone marks a significant boost to the NAF’s engineering capabilities and demonstrates its commitment to self-reliance.

The in-country PDM was completed at a significantly lower cost and with reduced aircraft downtime, showcasing the NAF’s growing engineering prowess. The achievement is attributed to the Chief of Air Staff’s (CAS) philosophy prioritizing logistics support and strong maintenance culture.
