Joyful Festivities as 9 Brigade Hosts Christmas Carol

The festive spirit resonated at the Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade as Brigadier General Adegoke Adetuyi, the Commander, played host to a heartwarming Christmas Carol on Friday, December 21, 2023.

The event, attended by Brigade personnel, their families, and friends, featured enchanting presentations by choirs from various denominations, including the Living Faith Church Choir, Redeemed Christian Church of God Choir, St Michael’s Church Choir, St Christopher’s Church Choir, St Charles’ Catholic Church, and the Christian Women Fellowship of St Michael’s Church – all within the Nigerian Army Cantonment Ikeja.

In his Christmas message, General Adetuyi extended warm greetings to the families and guests, emphasising the reflective nature of the season. He commended the tireless efforts of Brigade personnel in collaboration with other security agencies, aligning with the Chief of Army Staff’s Command Philosophy to transform the Nigerian Army into a well-trained, equipped, and highly motivated force. General Adetuyi highlighted the success achieved through operations and exercises, notably Exercise STILL WATERS III, aimed at ensuring a secure environment for citizens to celebrate the festive season without hindrance.

The event welcomed distinguished guests, including Major General MT Usman, the General Officer Commanding 81 Division Nigerian Army, represented by Colonel Okechukwu Azuoro, and other senior officers within Lagos. Also in attendance were Cdre KO Oguntuga, Commander NNS BEECROFT, Air Commodore Olasunkanmi Abu, Commander BSG NAF, and Lieutenant Colonel Juliet Aziekwu, Acting Director Army Band. Mrs Nneka Shirley Adetuyi, the Zonal Coordinator of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, 9 Brigade Chapter, led a group of women in the Brigade for the occasion. The event, filled with joyous carol presentations, colourful decorations, attires, refreshments, and photographs, marked a delightful celebration of the Christmas season.
