Kaduna: Millennium City Residents Lament Bad Roads, Call for Government Intervention
By Matthew Eloyi
Stakeholders in Millennium City, Kaduna State, have called on the state government to urgently rehabilitate the access road leading to Girau International School and adjoining estates, warning that its deplorable condition is affecting movement, security and development in the area.
The stakeholders expressed concern over the poor state of the approximately three-kilometre road linking the Millennium City Police Station junction to the school, located beside MPH Estate in Millennium City, Kaduna.
Girau International School, described as a Category ‘A’ institution and one of the leading basic education schools in the area, has an enrolment of more than 1,200 pupils, making the condition of the access road a major concern for parents, school authorities and residents.
They questioned why the state government had yet to provide adequate road infrastructure for the growing community, despite the importance of the route to pupils, parents, residents and other road users.
According to the stakeholders, the poor condition of the road poses significant challenges to daily movement and could further complicate security operations in Millennium City, where residents have expressed concerns about safety.
They noted that rehabilitating the road would improve accessibility for schoolchildren and other residents while enabling security personnel to respond more efficiently to emergencies and conduct routine patrols across the community.
The stakeholders also emphasised that the road serves several estates along the corridor, adding that its construction would improve connectivity, ease transportation and stimulate economic and residential development.
They maintained that providing functional access roads was essential to supporting the rapid growth of Millennium City and ensuring that residents had access to basic infrastructure.
The stakeholders therefore urged the Kaduna State Government to prioritise the road project as part of efforts to improve public safety, support education and accelerate development in the area.
They expressed optimism that rehabilitating the road would bring relief to parents, pupils and residents while strengthening security operations and improving the overall quality of life in Millennium City.
