Kebbi First Lady Laments Lack of Young Women in Leadership, Science

The wife of Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Zainab Shinkafi Bagudu, has lamented the lack of young women in Science and leadership positions in the country, promising to leverage her networks to change the tide.

According to a statement by Muktar Abubakar Bagudo, SSA Office of the First lady, Dr. Bagudu stated this during a courtesy visit to her by the newly elected leaders of the Nigerian Medical Students’ Association (NIMSA).

Dr Bagudu lamented the lack of young women in Science and leadership positions. She also offered technical guidance on how to make the planned summit more impactful, promising to leverage her networks.

During the visit which was to introduce the Exco to the first lady, seek her prayers and inform her of the Association’s plan to host an international health summit. Dr. Bagudu promised to offer technical guidance for the planned summit to be impactful.

She congratulated the delegation which was led by the National President, Umar Muhammad Danbuba. She urged them to venture into leadership positions which according to her will provide solutions to various challenges in the north and the country at large.

Speaking earlier, the National President Danbuba who was accompanied by the regional President of Sokoto commended the efforts of the first lady in the area of healthcare development in Kebbi State.

He further introduced the planned international health summit to the First lady while seeking her guidance, network and financial support.

Danbuba said, as an ardent advocate and global player of healthcare development, Dr Bagudu is well positioned to assist the Association through her wealth of experience, network and knowledge.

Also speaking the Head of NIMSA in Usman Danfodio University Sokoto, Nisa’i Ilyasu Buhari used the opportunity to introduce the association’s weekly publication and presented her with the official launch.

Also part of the delegation were medical students from Shinkafi, hometown of the first lady.
