Kebbi Gov’t, NNPC Renews Commitment on Biofuel Production

The Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Thursday meet with the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to renew efforts and strengthen the ongoing collaboration on the production of biofuel and renewal energy in Kebbi State.

The State Government had in November, 2017 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NNPC to set up a company that will produce biofuel (ethanol) in the state.

In a remark during the courtesy visit, the GMD Mr Mele Kyari reaffirmed the commitment of the NNPC in pursuing the success of the signed MoU.

According to a Press Release that was signed and issued by Mr Yahaya Sarki, Special Adviser (SA) Media to Kebbi State Governor, the GMD informed the governor of exploratory drilling that is set to begin in the Sokoto Basin Area and a large part of Kebbi State.

He commended the courage and determination of the Kebbi State Government to the actualisation of the program.

Mr Sarki stated that discussion by the duo revolved around the Kebbi State-NNPC Biofuel Program and that Bagudu updated the NNPC boss on the state’s Cassava Cultivation that has steadily been increasing annually preparatory to the kick-off of the program.

“He also discussed hydrogen production program for which a feasibility study in conjunction with German experts will soon commence in the state,” Mr Sarki stated.

He further stated that the Governor was accompanied by the Chairman of the State’s Standing Committee on Biofuels,http://northeaststarlive.com Prof. Muhammad Kaoje Abubakar, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Dr. Abba Sani Kalgo, Alhaji Kallamu Aliero, and Nasiru Hassan during the visit to the NNPC Towers in Abuja.
