Lagos Police Begin Disciplinary Action Against Inspector Over Viral Video

The Lagos State Police Command has identified Inspector Osumah Frank as the police officer seen in a viral video making inappropriate remarks while travelling in a commercial vehicle.

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command said disciplinary action had commenced against the officer in line with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force.

The Command also distanced itself from the remarks attributed to the inspector, stressing that the statements were made in his personal capacity and did not represent the official position or views of the Lagos State Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.

The officer was reportedly filmed while dressed in police uniform and travelling in a commercial vehicle, where he made what the Command described as careless, inappropriate and uncultured political and ethnic remarks.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, said police personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times.

He further noted that wearing the police uniform comes with the responsibility to uphold the dignity and integrity of the Force.

According to the Command, it would not condone any conduct capable of bringing the Nigeria Police Force into disrepute or undermining public confidence.

The Lagos State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and policing with humility and integrity.
