LASU Best Graduating Student Receives ₦10m Award for Academic Excellence

Isioma Sybil Nwosu, a First Class graduate of Biochemistry from Lagos State University (LASU), has received a ₦10 million cash award after emerging as the university’s overall best graduating student for the 2023/2024 academic session.

Nwosu graduated with an outstanding 4.93 CGPA, placing her at the top of the graduating class and earning recognition for her exceptional academic performance.

The award was announced by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, during LASU’s 28th Convocation Ceremony held at the university’s Ojo campus. The cash prize was later presented to Nwosu by the Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule.

The Lagos State Government said the recognition was part of its commitment to promoting academic excellence, scholarship, innovation and outstanding achievement across the state’s tertiary institutions.

Receiving the award alongside her mother, Nwosu expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing the financial support as a life-changing opportunity. She disclosed that she plans to use the money to further her education and advance her academic pursuits.

Her achievement came as LASU celebrated 11,917 graduates at its 28th Convocation, comprising first-degree, postgraduate and doctoral graduates.

Nwosu’s remarkable performance and the recognition she received highlight the impact of rewarding academic excellence and serve as an inspiration to students across Nigerian universities to pursue their educational goals with dedication, discipline and determination.
