Northern Governors’ Wives Forum Strengthens Collaboration on Social Development, Humanitarian Response

The Wife of the Governor of Niger State, Her Excellency Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago, has attended a dinner hosted by the Wife of the Governor of Zamfara State, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, in honour of members of the Northern Governors’ Wives Forum in Gusau, Zamfara State.

According to a press statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Wife of the Governor of Niger State, Hadiza Abdullahi Maikano, the dinner formed part of activities marking the official launch of the Food Outreach Scheme under the Renewed Hope Initiative.

The event also had in attendance the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, Amina J. Mohammed, who was in Zamfara State on an official engagement focused on development and humanitarian priorities in the region.

Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago described the gathering as a vital platform for strengthening unity and collaboration among wives of Northern Governors, particularly in addressing shared social and humanitarian challenges across the region.

She further noted that the presence of the UN Deputy Secretary-General underscored the importance of sustained partnerships between subnational governments and international organisations in advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Reaffirming her commitment, Hajiya Fatima Mohammed Bago emphasized that unity, compassion, and coordinated leadership remain essential in delivering meaningful impact and building stronger, more resilient communities.

The dinner brought together members of the Northern Governors’ Spouses Forum, development partners, and other distinguished guests, all united in their commitment to promoting social development and regional progress.
