Speaking at the launch in Abuja, the Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, MNI, OFR, said inclusivity remains central to building a stronger, more effective and trusted security institution. He explained that the policy aligns the NSCDC with global best practices and Nigeria’s national security objectives.

Representing the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, Prof. Audi noted that the new policy is designed to strengthen institutional capacity, enhance operational effectiveness and guide personnel to carry out their duties with dignity, care and respect for human rights.

He added that Gender Policy II will promote equity across the Corps while improving service delivery, particularly to vulnerable groups, thereby deepening public confidence in the organisation.

The event, supported by UKFIDO and SPRING, attracted senior government officials, security stakeholders, development partners and civil society organisations. Speakers at the gathering emphasized that inclusive security frameworks enhance accountability, protect marginalised communities and contribute to sustainable peace.

The launch of Gender Policy II also underscores the NSCDC’s commitment to United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and marks a significant milestone in the Corps’ drive to institutionalise inclusivity, equity and professionalism across its operations nationwide.
