Olowu Kuta Warns Against Politicisation of DSS
Jerry Adesewo

Olowu of Kuta, HRM Oba Hameed Adekunle Oyelude Makama, CON, Tegbosun III, has cautioned against the politicisation of the Department of State Services (DSS), urging individuals to refrain from spreading unfounded allegations and narratives that could tarnish the reputation of officers and the rank and file.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Olowu dismissed circulating news claiming that the Director General of the DSS, Bichi, misappropriated funds earmarked for the N35,000 wage award approved by President Bola Tinubu. He deemed these allegations not only baseless but also ridiculous, emphasising that DSS salaries and allowances are distinct due to the essential nature of their services.

“The intention of the purveyors of the fake news is to cause disaffection between the officers and the DG,” Olowu remarked, urging unity for the security of the nation. He emphasised that the choice of the DSS DG is the President’s prerogative, and the focus should be on national security during these critical times.

While advocating for patriotism to overcome economic challenges, Olowu urged those behind such schemes to desist. He highlighted DG Yusufu Magaji Bichi’s commitment to the welfare of DSS personnel, expressing confidence in his leadership.

“We have strong confidence in the pedigree of DG Yusufu Magaji Bichi, and the morale of the service personnel and officers is as high as their patriotic zeal,” Olowu stated. He concluded by noting that individuals aspiring to be DG DSS might be discouraged, emphasising that God has time for everything.
