Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Foil Ransom Exchange, Rescue Kidnapped Woman in Kebbi

Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a planned ransom exchange and rescued a kidnapped woman after overpowering terrorists during an intelligence-led operation in Kebbi State.

The operation, conducted on August 26, 2026, followed credible intelligence indicating that terrorists were preparing to collect ransom for a woman abducted from her farm the previous month, a military source told SpyeTV News.

Acting on the intelligence, troops deployed to the area to intercept the planned ransom transaction as part of ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations.

As the troops closed in, the terrorists reportedly attempted to engage them but were quickly overwhelmed by the troops’ superior firepower.

The encounter forced the criminals to retreat into the surrounding area, abandoning their hostage in the process.

The troops subsequently secured the woman, who was found unharmed, and evacuated her to safety. She was later reunited with her family in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Following the rescue, the troops conducted a thorough search and exploitation of the terrorists’ withdrawal route to secure the area and prevent further attacks.

In a separate operation, troops also conducted routine clearance and dominance patrols in Ngaski Local Government Area, with the exercise completed without incident.

The latest operation highlights the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist and bandit activities, deny criminal elements freedom of movement and protect vulnerable communities across the North-West.

The troops have reaffirmed their commitment to sustained intelligence-driven operations aimed at safeguarding lives and restoring lasting peace across the region.
