Operation HADIN KAI Rescues Abductees, Repels ISWAP Attack, Arrests Terrorist Logistics Suppliers

Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have sustained ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East, recording fresh successes in search-and-rescue missions, offensive operations and intelligence-led raids targeting terrorist networks.

The military disclosed that troops of the 115 Task Force Battalion rescued two abducted victims during a Search and Rescue operation in Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State on July 7.

According to the military, the operation also led to the recovery of ₦1.2 million suspected to be proceeds of criminal activities, food supplies and other logistics believed to have supported terrorist operations.

The rescued victims have since been evacuated to a secure location where they are receiving medical attention and psychosocial support.

In a separate operation, troops stationed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Logomani in Ngala Local Government Area successfully repelled a coordinated attack by suspected ISWAP fighters.

The military said the terrorists briefly breached part of the base’s defensive perimeter during the fierce exchange of gunfire, but troops quickly regrouped and launched a counter-offensive that forced the attackers to retreat with heavy casualties.

One soldier was killed during the encounter, while two gun trucks and some combat equipment were damaged. The military, however, confirmed that the base remains under the full control of Operation HADIN KAI troops, with reinforcements deployed and clearance operations ongoing.

In Adamawa State, troops of the 232 Battalion, acting on credible intelligence, arrested a suspected notorious criminal in Gombi Local Government Area.

The operation led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, two magazines and 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. The suspect remains in military custody while investigations continue.

Similarly, troops of the 149 Battalion arrested two suspected terrorist logistics suppliers in Mobbar Local Government Area of Borno State.

Items recovered from the suspects included cash, a Volkswagen Golf vehicle, construction materials, household items and other supplies believed to have been intended for terrorist elements.

As part of ongoing clearance operations, troops of the 24 Task Force Brigade, working alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), raided known terrorist hideouts around Wulgo, recovering a sack containing assorted illicit drugs abandoned by fleeing insurgents.

The military also disclosed that six suspected ISWAP members and their family members surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion in Sector 1.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the group escaped from terrorist enclaves at Guduf Bubayagwa and Chikide in the Mandara Mountains of Gwoza Local Government Area.

Recovered items included ₦1,541,500, two mobile phones and other personal belongings.

In another operation, troops arrested a suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP logistics supplier at the Molai checkpoint while allegedly transporting a large quantity of medical supplies without the required clearance.

Likewise, troops of the 233 Tank Battalion, in collaboration with local hunters in Sector 2, intercepted another suspected terrorist logistics supplier from Ngirya village in Tarmuwa Local Government Area, Yobe State, recovering five motorcycle tyres suspected to be intended for insurgents.

The military said all suspects are in custody and undergoing further investigation.

Operation HADIN KAI said the latest operational gains reflect the effectiveness of sustained offensive operations, intelligence-driven missions and collaboration among security agencies in disrupting terrorist logistics networks and enhancing security across the North-East.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to continuing search-and-rescue operations until all abducted persons are accounted for and reunited with their families.

It also warned individuals involved in supplying food, fuel, construction materials, transportation or any other form of logistics to terrorist groups to desist immediately, stressing that anyone found aiding or collaborating with terrorist organisations would be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
