Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have neutralised six suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) terrorists, arrested 11 suspected collaborators and received the surrender of a JAS member in separate operations in Borno State.
The operations, conducted in Kaga and Gwoza Local Government Areas, also led to the recovery of weapons, ammunition, mobile phones and other items linked to the activities of the suspected terrorists.
According to a statement issued on October 25, 2026, by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, troops of 29 Task Force Brigade Garrison, working with Hybrid Force personnel, ambushed suspected ISWAP/JAS terrorists along the Targejeri axis of Kaga LGA at about 12:37 a.m. on October 25.
The encounter resulted in the neutralisation of six terrorists. Items recovered included an AK-47 rifle, three magazines, 169 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, two Android phones, three button phones and charms.
In a related development, troops conducted a follow-up raid in Benisheikh town, Kaga LGA, at about 6:20 a.m. on October 24, following earlier operations targeting suspected terrorist collaborators.
The raid led to the arrest of six additional suspects, bringing the total number of suspected collaborators apprehended in connection with the investigation to 11, including five arrested earlier.
Items recovered during the operation included an AK-47 rifle, three empty magazines, 169 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, three terrorist uniforms, a turban, a head mask, two Android phones, three button phones and charms.
The statement said the suspects were undergoing investigation to establish their alleged involvement in terrorist activities and identify possible links to other members of the network.
Meanwhile, at about 9:20 p.m. on October 24, troops of 192 Battalion (Main), supported by Hybrid Force personnel deployed at the Hambagda Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Gwoza LGA, received the surrender of a JAS member near Hambagda village along the Gwoza–Limankara road.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the individual had escaped from a terrorist enclave in the Gwoza area of the Mandara Mountains and decided to abandon terrorism.
The individual surrendered with an AK-47 rifle and a magazine containing 28 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, among other items. He is currently in custody for further investigation and processing in line with established procedures.
The Theatre Command said the latest successes reflected the sustained offensive operations, combat readiness and coordination between OPHK troops and Hybrid Force personnel in disrupting terrorist activities and their support networks.
It added that the recovery of weapons and ammunition, alongside the arrest of suspected collaborators and the surrender of a terrorist member, would contribute to efforts to weaken terrorist capabilities across the theatre.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations, denying terrorists freedom of action and creating conditions for the safe return of displaced communities and the restoration of socio-economic activities.
It also urged members of the public to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East.
