Osun First Lady declares war against Gender-based Violence

Wife of Osun State Governor, Chief (Mrs.) Titilola Adeleke has said that she is leaving no stone unturned to free the State from gender-based violence.
The Governor’s Wife made the declaration during a courtesy call on her in the Country Home, Ede, by the National Human Rights Commission, State Chapter.
Mrs Adeleke expressed joy that the visitors and her office share the same vision and as well working towards achieving the same goals of protecting the rights and well-being of Women, Children, Widows and the vulnerable in the State.
In her words, “Part of the efforts to address the challenges of the aforementioned group of people was my visitation to the Sexual Assault Referral Center, Asubiaro, Osogbo, with a view to upgrading the facilities there for the benefit of humanity.”
Explaining the rationale behind the courtesy visit, the State Coordinator of the Human Rights Commission, Mrs Anigbo Nneka, applauded the Governor’s Wife’s warm reception despite the short notice, saying that, the Commission is considering her flagging- off the 16-day activism of the world Gender-based Violence of the Commission due to her love for the Holistic Development of Women and Children in the State.
Mrs Nneka, who expressed worry towards the rising cases of domestic violence in Osun State, noted that the situation calls for urgent and proactive efforts for reduction to the barest minimum.
The Osun State Human Rights Commission’s Boss seized the opportunity to present the act setting up the Commission to the Governor’s wife, while she also reciprocated the gesture with a distribution of souvenirs to the visitors.
One of the investigation officers of the State Human Rights Commission, Mr. Ojo Williams took time to reel out some of the mandates of the Commission.
Members of the National Human Rights Commission who paid the Governor’s Wife the courtesy visit included: the Head of the Investigation Department, Mr. Kumolu Gbenga; Senior Investigation Officer, Mr Adeyale Sola and the Senior Legal Officer, Mr Balogun Oluwafemi, among others.
