Osun NUJ Press Week: Journalists tasked on fairness, objectivity

Journalists have been reminded of the need to be fair, objective and profession in carrying out their duties especially those related to political development of the country.

Special Apostle M.O.Adeshina of the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Osogbo gave the charge at the Thanksgiving Service to mark the end of the 2023 Osun NUJ Press Week.

Adeshina, who noted that the public are looking unto journalists to serve as checks on the excessiveness of the ruling class noted that they should not join the politicians in the destruction of the economy of the country, but should do everything possible to create means to rebuild the foundation of the country which has been destroyed by the ruling class.

He described members of the fourth estate of the realm as essential, considering the move by the administration at the centre to rebuild the nation said that every hand must be on deck to ensure that government lived up to its promises.

In his remarks at the Thanksgiving Service attended by members of the Nigeria Union of Journalist across the state, Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists,Osun State Council, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu appreciated the church for standing by the truth always and saying the truth to powers that be.

He promised that journalists in the state would continue to represent the interest of the public.

Commissioner for Cooperative and Empowerment, Prince Bayo Ogungbamgbe who hosted journalists who attended the programme reiterated commitment of the administration of Governor Ademola Adeleke to the overall development of the state, promising to continue to support vision of journalists in the discharge of their responsibilities.
