Our awards are stepping stones for awardees —OurNigeria News Magazine

OurNigeria News Magazine has said that its annual awards are a panacea for the awardees to grow from one success story to another in their life endeavors.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the 2023 edition of the awards, Dr AK Peters, made this statement on Sunday in his welcome address at the Awards ceremony held at the Abuja International Conference Center.
Speaking on the theme for the 2023 Awards, “Providing a Podium for the Unsung Heroes”, Dr Peters said that the awards are not for the highest bidders, neither are they for sale but are carefully conferred on selected and highly inspirational heroes, whose achievements had evoked admiration and emulation.
He said, “Please note that our awards are not for the highest bidders. Our awards are only for those who have scaled through the clear-cut parameters, criteria, scrutiny, and competency appraisals of our eagle-eyed, conservative, old-school crack team of assessors.

According to Dr Peters, the unsung heroes were celebrated and rewarded for raising the bar in leadership and the quest for a better Nigeria, adding that the majority of those who received the awards in the past, were elevated in their various skills or endeavors.
“Senator Bassey Otu, who was our Politician of the Year in the year 2021, is the executive Governor of Cross River state today. General Christopher Musa, who was conferred with the Collins Powell’s Meritorious Award in 2022 on soldering, today is Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff.
“Honourable Mohammed Abu Issa received the Ability in Disability Award in 2021. Today, he is the Senior Special Assistant to the President on disability. From this podium where I’m standing, I can see our daughter Mariam, who just last year, also received our award, today she has been offered scholarships for Undergraduate Studies at the Gombe State University.”
Dr Peters said that those recognized in the 2023 OurNigeria Awards would likewise be elevated in their fields of endeavor, assuring that the event was well-planned and properly organized.
