The Nigeria Police Force has announced the sixth edition of the Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers (CARSPO 2026), scheduled to hold from September 21 to 23, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State.

The conference, organised in conjunction with Lenders Consult International, will focus on developing a strategic roadmap for effective security management before, during and after the 2027 General Elections.

With the theme, “Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security During Elections,” CARSPO 2026 will bring together senior police officers, policing experts and other relevant stakeholders to assess emerging electoral security challenges and develop practical strategies for ensuring safe, peaceful and credible elections.

Deliberations at the conference will focus on key areas including intelligence-led policing, police-community partnerships, digital technologies, artificial intelligence (AI) and other contemporary approaches to strengthening police operations and electoral security.

The conference will primarily involve officers of the rank of Commissioner of Police and above, providing a platform for strategic engagement, knowledge-sharing and the development of practical measures to enhance the Force’s capacity to manage election-related security challenges.

A major objective of CARSPO 2026 is to develop actionable strategies for protecting voters, electoral officials, candidates, election materials and the general public throughout the electoral process.

The conference is also expected to strengthen coordination between the Police and relevant stakeholders while promoting innovative approaches to preventing electoral violence, responding to emerging threats and maintaining public order.

The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, in Owerri, Imo State.

The Nigeria Police Force said the conference underscores its commitment to strengthening strategic leadership, professionalism and operational preparedness ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Force reaffirmed its determination to work with relevant stakeholders to create a peaceful, safe and secure environment that will enable Nigerians to exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation.
