Presidency Dismisses Peter Obi’s Allegations, Describes Claims as False

The Presidency has dismissed allegations made by former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, accusing the Federal Government of targeting him, describing the claims as false, misleading and politically motivated.

In a statement, the Presidency said Obi’s recent comments regarding an incident involving his vehicle at an airport and his allegation that he was being harassed by the government were unfounded.

According to the statement, the airport incident, as narrated by Obi himself, appeared to have resulted from a breach of parking regulations and should not be interpreted as government intimidation.

The Presidency also rejected Obi’s claim that his life could be in danger ahead of the 2027 general elections, as well as his allegation that individuals were being discouraged from inviting him to social events.

It described the allegations as “fabricated narratives” aimed at attracting public sympathy and diverting attention from political and personal challenges.

The statement further maintained that the Federal Government has no interest in targeting Fidelity Bank, where Obi is reported to have substantial business interests.

According to the Presidency, the bank has continued to operate successfully under the current administration’s economic reforms, dismissing suggestions that it is under pressure from the government.

The Presidency insisted that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains focused on implementing reforms and delivering on its Renewed Hope Agenda rather than engaging in political distractions.

It added that the government has neither the time nor the interest to target political opponents, reaffirming its commitment to governance and national development.

The statement concluded by urging public figures to refrain from making allegations without verifiable evidence and to contribute constructively to national discourse.
