In a decisive move, the Headquarters, 6 Division, Nigerian Army, has expressed deep concern over the unprofessional behavior displayed by two of its personnel in a viral video depicting the brutal treatment of a civilian in Rivers State.

The soldiers involved have been promptly identified and arrested.

The Division is steadfast in affirming that the Nigerian Army upholds professionalism, conducting its operations in strict adherence to established rules of engagement and a profound respect for the fundamental human rights of the citizens. Any deviation from these standards will not be tolerated.

Major General Jamal Abdussalam, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), 6 Division, Nigerian Army, and Land Component Commander, Joint Task Force, South South, Operation DELTA SAFE, has directed an immediate and thorough investigation into the incident. He reassures that stringent measures will be taken to hold those involved accountable.

He urged the public to continue providing credible information on such unprofessional behaviour. The Division is committed to being more responsive to the concerns of the public, emphasising that this incident is an unfortunate and isolated case that will be expeditiously addressed.
