South African Pension Fund Delegation Visits Dangote Refinery, Fertiliser Plants

Representatives of South Africa’s Government Employees Pension Fund (GEPF), alongside the Public Investment Corporation, have visited the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals and Dangote Fertiliser Limited amid growing interest in Africa-driven industrialisation and long-term infrastructure investments.

The visit comes as African institutions increasingly shift focus toward supporting large-scale projects aimed at strengthening energy security, boosting industrial development, enhancing food systems, and improving economic resilience across the continent.

Observers say the development reflects a broader trend of African-led investment strategies, with institutions looking inward to support projects considered critical to sustainable growth and economic transformation.

The engagement also comes as the refinery moves toward its anticipated Initial Public Offering (IPO), further highlighting rising recognition of strategic infrastructure projects as key drivers of long-term economic expansion across Africa.

Industry stakeholders believe investments in major industrial projects could play an important role in advancing regional integration, job creation, and strengthening Africa’s economic independence.
