Startup Opens Reservations for World’s First Permanent Moon Hotel

In a bold move that could redefine luxury travel, a California-based startup, Galactic Resource Utilization Space (GRU), has announced plans to build the world’s first permanent hotel on the Moon and has officially opened reservations for future guests.

Founded by young engineer Skyler Chan, GRU aims to deploy an initial inflatable lunar habitat by 2032. The facility is designed to host up to four guests at a time for short stays lasting several days. The ambitious project has attracted investors linked to major technology firms, including SpaceX and Nvidia, signaling growing confidence in the commercial space tourism sector.

Prospective travelers interested in securing a place on the Moon are required to pay a $1,000 non-refundable application fee, followed by a $1 million deposit. The total cost of a five-day lunar experience is projected to exceed $10 million. According to the company, revenue from high-end tourism will help fund critical infrastructure for a broader and more sustainable lunar economy.

Planned activities for guests include guided moonwalks, lunar rover excursions, and panoramic views of Earth from the Moon’s surface. GRU also revealed plans to begin construction in 2029, using proprietary technology to eventually convert lunar soil into durable, permanent structures.

While still years away, the project represents a significant step in the commercialization of space. If successful, it could mark a historic shift—transforming the Moon from a distant celestial body into a tangible destination for human exploration and luxury travel.
