Taraba Govt expends $500,000 as counterpart fund for NSHIP program
The Taraba government says it has paid the sum of USD 500,000 which is equivalent to about seventy million naira as counterpart fund last year for the implementation of the Nigeria State Health Investment Project (NSHIP) in the state.
Taraba Executive Secretary of the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Alhaji Aminu Jauro Hassan disclosed this in an interview with journalists in Jalingo.
He said the state has successfully completed the NSHIP program that was initiated by the National Health Care Development Agency in collaboration with the federal ministry of health and endorsed by the states Governors including Governor Darius Ishaku.
According to him, it was seven local government areas that benefited from the NSHIP program, adding that the remaining nine local government areas that did not benefited were supported with medical equipments procured by Governor Darius Ishaku with the support of UNICEF with a view to enhance their services.
Alhaji Aminu Jauro Hassan also explained that, they have also succeeded in repositioning ninety health care centres across the state.
The Executive Secretary however, informed that the agency had also succeeded in building the capacity of its staff working in various health facility across the state.
Alh. Aminu Jauro Hassan, therefore, called on development partners and philanthropists to complement the government’s effort by providing support to the health sector to ensure a quality health delivery system.
