The Nigerian Army said it killed four terrorists and seized several weapons in two separate raids in the North East on Friday.

According to a statement by the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the troops were deployed as part of the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region.

He said the first raid targeted a terrorists’ camp in the Arra area of Zambisa Forest, where the troops neutralised three terrorists, including a suicide bomber, and destroyed their hideout. He said the troops also recovered two AK-47 rifles and a suicide vest from the scene.

The second raid was carried out in the Buluwa area of Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State, where the troops uncovered and destroyed another terrorists’ camp. He said the troops killed one terrorist and recovered one AK-47 rifle, 14 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a bicycle, foodstuff, a grinding machine, and other items.

Nwachukwu said the army remains committed to the eradication of terrorism and insurgency in the region and will continue to conduct operations to ensure the safety and security of the people.
