President Bola Tinubu has emphasized Africa’s vast potential for investment, growth, and development, citing its vibrant population, productive economy, and abundant natural resources.

Speaking during a bilateral meeting with Chinese Premier Li Qiang on Wednesday in Beijing, China, Tinubu underscored the importance of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in fostering a mutually beneficial partnership between Africa and China.

“The African spirit for FOCAC is based upon mutual respect and partnership that promotes development, happiness, peace, and stability for our people. We are in this journey together,” Tinubu remarked, according to a statement by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale.

As both the President of Nigeria and the Chairman of ECOWAS, Tinubu expressed satisfaction with the strategic partnership being promoted, highlighting its acceptance by both parties. “This is the way to go,” he added.

The President called for a strategic focus on areas of collaboration that would ensure the relationship between Africa and China remains mutually beneficial.

In his words, “Africa is a huge opportunity for economic development. As great people, we are willing to partner for progress and development.”

Tinubu, who is attending the ninth FOCAC in Beijing, also thanked the Chinese government for the warm reception he and his delegation received. “I am happy, in spite of the jetlag; we were well received, and we are ready to move the ball,” he concluded.

Chinese Premier Li Qiang affirmed China’s readiness to work with Nigeria, building on the mutual understanding reached by President Xi Jinping and President Tinubu under the newly established comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.
