“Enough is Enough”: Peter Obi Hails Northern Traditional Rulers Over Bold Security Stand

The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, has applauded Northern Traditional Rulers for their bold and united stand on the escalating security crisis in the region and across the country.

Obi, in a post on his verified X handle (formerly Twitter), was reacting to the royal fathers’ recent emergency declaration on the security situation, which was marked by the strong message: “Enough is Enough.” He described their intervention as both timely and courageous, noting that such leadership is vital in the fight to restore peace.

“I would like to sincerely thank the Northern Traditional Rulers for their courageous and timely emergency declaration of the security situation in the region,” Obi wrote.

“I cannot agree less with them that ‘Enough is Enough’ regarding the persistent killings and insecurity plaguing our nation.

“Their collective voice, as reported, underscores the urgent need for decisive action to protect lives and restore peace in our communities.”

The former Anambra State Governor further urged authorities at all levels to collaborate more closely with the traditional rulers, who he described as the closest leaders to the people at the grassroots.

“Their commitment to addressing these challenges and offering counsel to regional governors reflects true leadership and a deep concern for the well-being of their communities,” he said.

According to Obi, the royal fathers’ stance should serve as a wake-up call to all stakeholders in the Nigerian project, stressing the need for unity in the quest for sustainable peace.

“The stance of the rulers served as a clarion call to all stakeholders,” Obi added. “We must unite, irrespective of political affiliations, to implement lasting solutions that address the root causes of our nation’s challenges.

“Let us work together to build a Nigeria where every citizen feels safe, valued, and empowered.”
