Troops Foil Planned Terrorist Attack on Kaddanya Village in Katsina

Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, under Headquarters 17 Brigade, have successfully foiled a planned terrorist attack on Kaddanya Village in Charanchi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The operation followed a distress call received at about 11:20 a.m. on Sunday, August 9, 2026, reporting the movement and convergence of suspected terrorists around the community.

Acting swiftly on the alert, troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Radda mobilised towards the area in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Force from the Kankia/Charanchi axis and members of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps (KSCWC).

The joint security team successfully disrupted the suspected terrorists’ plans before they could launch the attack.

Following the intervention, the troops conducted an extensive exploitation of the area and maintained an aggressive security presence through patrols and sustained domination of surrounding communities and likely routes of movement.

The operation was aimed at preventing the terrorists from regrouping or making another attempt to attack the community.

After securing the area and restoring normalcy, the troops returned safely to base at about 3:10 p.m.

The successful operation highlights the importance of rapid response, timely intelligence and effective collaboration among security agencies and community-based security structures in preventing terrorist attacks and protecting vulnerable communities.

Security forces are expected to sustain patrols, surveillance and area domination across the axis to prevent renewed attempts by terrorists and other criminal elements to disrupt the safety and livelihood of residents.
