The operations were carried out across Zurmi and Shinkafi Local Government Areas as part of sustained military efforts to combat banditry and restore peace in affected communities.

According to security sources, troops on a fighting patrol covering Birnin Saba, Yanbuki, and Sabon Garin Daudawa communities in Zurmi Local Government Area encountered a group of terrorists operating within the Yanbuki District on June 12, 2026.

During the ensuing firefight, troops engaged the criminals and neutralised one terrorist. Items recovered from the scene included rifles, four magazines loaded with ammunition, two motorcycles, seven mobile phones, two MP3 players, a woodland camouflage trouser, and an inner vest.

The troops reportedly sustained pressure on the fleeing terrorists and advanced toward Sabon Garin Daudawa. However, upon noticing the superior firepower and determination of the advancing soldiers, the terrorists abandoned their camp and fled before troops arrived.

Military personnel subsequently cleared the area and destroyed the terrorists’ enclave, denying the criminals a safe haven for future operations.

In a separate operation along the Shinkafi–Moriki axis, troops conducting a routine patrol ambushed terrorists operating in the area. During the encounter, one terrorist was neutralised, while troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, five magazines, a Baofeng communication radio, two motorcycles, and assorted charms.

The operations also led to the successful rescue of three kidnapped victims. The rescued individuals are currently receiving necessary care, while efforts are underway to reunite them with their families.

Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining offensive operations across Zamfara State and the wider North-West region until terrorist and bandit networks are dismantled and lasting peace is restored to affected communities.

The latest successes underscore the military’s ongoing determination to protect lives and property, disrupt criminal activities, and enhance security across the region.
